About Me

I am learning Tagalog.
Ako ay nag-aaral ng wikan tagalog.

I have studied the Spanish language also.
Nag-aral din ako ng wikang Kastila.

My reasons for learning Tagalog are:

1.) 60% of the world's population speaks an Asian language. This includes the 50+ million Tagalog speakers living in the Philippines and abroad.

2.) Tagalog is the fifth most widely spoken Asian language in the United States.

3.) I've studied Spanish before, a long time ago. Because of historical and cultural influence from Spanish colonization, Tagalog has about 40% of vocabulary from Spanish. I find that Tagalog words, when they are derived from the Spanish language, are somewhat easier to spell and remember than their Spanish language counterparts.

4.) There are no Tagalog speakers where I live, but when I do hear the spoken language, it seems to be a language that's pleasant to the ear and is easy to listen to.
