Hi, I’m Joseph, from China. I find italki a very good place to be at when meeting language problems. There are always many kind people who would give me their ‘native’ ideas about the questions I post here. It really helps a lot. Sincerely thanks to everyone! Speaking about questions, I think you can see what kind of an English learner I am from the questions I asked.

I’m a native Chinese speaker of course, and I speak standard Mandarin, which is the official Chinese pronunciation. I have a national certificate for that and I’ve got an A minus, only second to the level of TV and radio presenters. Because of this, I was offered a job as a Chinese teacher for foreigners after graduation from college, but I ended up being a book editor. I used to write a lot of things at work, from emails, write-ups, and even to contracts occasionally. It did really improve my written English although I’m still no good. One year or two later, one day I was at the beautiful Victoria harbour in Hong Kong, there was a man who needed help with taking photos, I suddenly realised I don’t know how to express myself correctly except writing others emails! I didn't see that coming! How terrible it is! So I’m in desperate need of speaking English well. And better writing too!

I’d really love to get to know friends from everywhere, especially those who love learning languages. Other than English, I’m thinking of trying to learn some other European languages like Latin, the Catholic language. Although I'm not a real teacher, as some people claim they are, I do hold the national teaching certificate. I can help you with learning Chinese if you like and I’ll try my best.
