"Friendly Fire" is a term usually applied to war or combat, in which two forces who should be working together fire on eachother due to miscommunication or some other mistake. For instance if a police officer was shot by another police officer accidently while attempting to shoot a criminal, the police officer who was shot would be considered shot by "Friendly Fire".
