Dao De Jing is all bout ancient Chinese words, sometimes even a native (Normal one) can not understand....plus the cultural gap's like trans-century ...
My teacher read it sometimes, but generally it's too old-fashioned for ppl in this generation

it is read often by scholars in China but in fact few people really understand what it is talking about for the writer is a great philosopher in ancient China. His idea is too profound to fully understood by common people and it needs patience to go it through.

Dao De Jing is very popular in other countries too.... such as Malaysia, Singapoe, Taiwan and so on....

I and my classmates don't read that book. But it is famous and everybody in China knows it. I know one or two of my friends read it, but it is not popular.

i have readed it this year

i am a junior in my high education. i noticed that students in my age show little interest on that. in china now,it is not a complusory course for us.we students are encouraged to read some other works of confucious ,like analect of confucious. however,our Philosophical teacher are obsessed to it. she taught us something about it and Taoism. i feel it's mysterious.

Even its not the popular book in China,its still a so usefull and religious book,you will know many principles by your heart every time when you read it.

I think dao de jing is not being read among young people and common people in china nowadays.At least it isn't embodied by the national middle and primary schools' chinese language textbooks.in this case many students will not learn it in the classes.on the other hand,for dao de jing is ancient prose at all ,it is hard to read for modern people so many people often read the modern texts edition.In my eye though many people don't read dao de jing nowadays ,what one will do and look on the things are all based on the dao de jing if one is moral.Dao de jing includes some philosophy theories that are the base of the chinese culture.

in school,the philosophy of Confucius is very popular
