My mother says that a person truly appreciates everything in three situations:

1. When giving birth.
2. When dying.
3. When tragedy strikes.

The last two sound a bit depressing. I think what she means is that we may truly appreciate all that we have only when all that we have becomes threatened.

Though I also think that we appreciate everything when we open our eyes to the world and see all that exists and all that could exist.

I was not thinking too much abt it before.
But now I got some idea of it.
During the Big Earthquake this year I was near the site, the world was shaking. My celling was cracked.
Never before I had felt death was so close to me.
I was calling my bf hundred of times but not able to connect.
I was calling my parents and after almost 30 times I got the line.
Mom, Im alright. Dont worry. I told mom with tears.
...
After the Earthquake and thousands of aftershocks, I really felt myself start to appreciate everything in life even a flower in the vase.
We are very lucky to be here with smiling face to the world.
