No it is not the EASIEST language in the world as it's made up of quite a few other languages. Why not click onto Find a Language partner at the top of the page?

你好,Yang Heng.

I totally agree with Jura. English is not the easiest language in the world. In fact, I have heard that Norwegian is easier to learn that English.

English verb tenses are easy, but English's vocabular is quite specific and detailled. English has over 500,000 words.

French and English share a similar vocabulary base, but their grammars are different in many ways.
German and English share lots of vocabulary and word order, but German has cases and English does not.
Spanish and Italian are written as they sound, but verbs and grammar are different enough to make things difficult.
As I am a westerner, I think that Korean, Japanese, and Chinese are easy because their verb tenses are usually not complicated, but word order is quite different. And cultural effects on language are present too.

I once heard that Russian and Hungarian were the two hardest languages to learn.

Of course, there are many other languages in Africa, India, Oceania, and Eastern Europe that I didn't name either. I don't think the language itself is the real problem.

I think sometimes we say learning a language is hard or easy in relation to how much we have to learn in order to communicate. If we have to study a lot to communicate, then we say it's hard. If we don't have to study a lot, we say it's easy. I believe we want things to be easy because we don't want to work for them sometimes. We put the cart before the horse. We want the milk without the cow or the goat. We try to get something for free without. And I am not accusing you of that. Because you have an italki profile, and because you asked us a question that shows me you have three important things:

1. You have the motivation to learn.
2. You have the courage to practice.
3. You have the spirit to seek actively the people with whom you can communicate.

Great job! And good question.

One suggestion: study three words a day; tomorrow study three more words and review over and over
