To improve the number of friends you have on italki you should do some of these things:
1. Ask people to be your friends
2. Post interesting questions and answers so people visit your profile and add you as a friend
3. HAve an interesting photograph (I think yours is already good though...)
4. Join some relevant groups for the language you speak and the language(s) that you learn

Not Important to have many many friends who don't care about you or not faithful for you , making you troubles , or don't love you for example know you for any other pupose ,..
But the Most Important to get the True Friend who's care about you , try to satisfy you , make you happy , help you to solve your Problem , Support you , encourage you ,..
I think this is the friend you have to look for , if you just have just 1 or 2 ,..
