We, native Spanish speakers, can use several expression as you see, as well as in English. Nice is a simple and common English expression. So all the answers you have are correct.

Of course, it always depends on the context as yourself make it notice. If somebody tells me: I am from Spain (Soy Española, o vengo de España) I'd say: Bien, interesante or "¡Que lindo país!" (that's it)

Well. I think Salvador is right... but "chido" or "de pelos" is a very local expression mostly used in Mexico and some latin countries.. i dont know if is a current expresion outside this area, maybe "bonito" or "genial" is more closer with the real meaning.
