Are language schools in you country and worldwide a big business? Why?

In Australia there are many private schools that charge more than $AUS10,000 annually per student. Public schools where I teach are free.Overseas exchange students pay more that $AUS12,000 to study at a high school [ some of this is commission paid to their governments, agents in their country & Australia]and there are many colleges & unis which accept oversees fee paying students ahead of non fee paying Australian students in popular courses like IT, law, engineering etc.

Ordinary schools offer foreign languages in their curriculum :)

here, english is a standard curriculum from grade school to college (it's our next language anyway) but i don't see much language school being established here.... wait, i've seen some korean & chinese school here but they're too small...

Most of the locals here who wants to learn foreign languages are those who plans to work or live abroad.
