there is a lot of adopted words in english and russian... but the languages are absolutely different! there are no articles in russian and 3 tenses only, but it is more difficult to learn than english, because of:
1) nouns have 6 cases
2) verbs are conjugated in 2 aspects (perfective and imperfective)
3) the meaning of the words can change widely because of prefixes, suffixes, stressings, etc.
In short, you can't say that russian and english are similar. They are as similar as chinese and greek :)
