And always check the profile of the sender.

I don't know why, but spammers don't care about a proper profile. If someone seems to be from a small country, let's say Iceland and only speaks a very exotic language, like SiSwati (sorry, friends from Swaziland, only an example...) (not: Icelandic, Norwegian, English,...), wants to learn a very exotic language (...), but not your own language or the language you want to learn...

Why would anyone like this try to contact you?

Sort by
They will rely on people messaging them back, then they will try to get your email address. They can sell lists of active email addresses that other scammers can use to send you more messages about scams - buying pills; receiving/making money payments; buying diplomas; accepting a 'job'. They hope that you'll fall for one, and they'll get a payout.

It costs them nothing ... except time, which they have a lot of!

She keeps on sending to me the same message such as this one below:

oui, i received one like the third one soon after i sign up at italki, i did some research and i learned that there's some people offering a job in a certain hotel at Canada. i research for that hotel home page and they already had a disclaimer advising people not to buy that kind of invitation. i dont remember the name of the person who send me the invitation but was a woman and she claim to be the hotel administrator. beware of this kind of message

Hi people how are you... well I received about 3 or 5 mails everyday offer me deals like transfers of millions of dollars as a next of kin or mails like people who fall on love my profile and but you has to be carefully they ask you for your personnal information and if you send your personnal information you will be in trouble, lets be honest nobody give you a dollar free, nobody fall in love with your profile, so be samart and do not put attention to this emails and report it if you know how to do it.. i received this two days earlier. it is funny and the writer's English is not that bad..i was thinking they could write fiction and scripts for Hollywood instead of "bombarding" "gullible" people like us with scam..
