น้ำอะไรขี้เหร่ - what does it mean?

Phil
I know what the words mean 'water' 'what' and 'ugly', but I don't understand the meaning of the idiom. I heard my young brother-in-law say this to his wife for a joke, but no one could explain to me what it meant!

Hi Phil,

I'm not sure but I think many people use it as a joke (or else it will considered as rude).
The answer is nothing to do with the question at all. Yes, "naam" is water and "khiiree" means ugly. The answer is "naam naa yaang gae/ ther"
-" naamnaa" น้ำหน้า means "face"
- "yaang" อย่าง means "like/as"
- "gae/ ther" แก/ เธอ means "you"

So the sentence means "the face like you" (that ugly)

The question is like the trick to ask someone and fool him at the same time.
If this is played among close friends, it's ok. But it's rude to say it to other people :)
