Meanings and use of the adverb 'anyhow'
1. In whatever way or manner; however: I'll cook it anyhow you like. They came anyhow they couldby boat, train, or plane.
2. In a careless way; haphazardly: clothes stuffed anyhow into the suitcase.

a. In any case; at least: I think they're asleep; anyhow, they're quiet.
b. Nevertheless: It sounds crazy, but I believe it anyhow.

Meanings of the adverb 'anyway'
1. in any case; anyhow; nonetheless; regardless: Whether you like it or not, I'm going anyway.
2. (used to continue or resume the thread of a story or account): Anyway, we finally found a plumber who could come right over.

Although there are very slight differences between them, I would say that you should consider them to be the same, and use them interchangeably, especially when using them as a conjunction.

When used as an adverb, "anyhow" can mean "haphazardly", but it's almost never used that way in american english.
