I'm not sure how this site works... can some one give me some tips/advice?

This site is a great tool for people who want to learn languages, cultures, traditions or even receipes...

The best way is to click on "language partners" and find some friends you can chat with...
Then if you want to learn a language click on "language teachers" then choose one you want to learn from, send him/her an email, then wait and see the different reactions...

As above mentioned you look for language partners or teachers to learn and practice your Japanese.
You could also check the other options on the pile on the left side of your homepage including knowledge ,resources and groups concentrating on the language you are learning (Japanese) .
Using this section as well for asking questions related to your language learning will help you get concrete prompt answers and many members will be happy to help you :)
