How many years you learn or study foreign language?

Hello Katya,

I usually take initiative courses then learning a foreign language, becomes a long term process that never stops, because gaining fluency could take so many years ,specially if not taking intensive courses or learning a language as part of school or university curriculum.

i have been studying English since i was ten.

For someone it's a tough task.However for other it's piece of cake.I had heard,that H.Schliman could have learned the next foreign language for 3 months.I can believe in it under certain conditions..if you learn for example French after English or Dutch after German but anyway to get solid knowleage,you need all your life.I've been learning English for 2 years,can read books,watch TV,but can't speak.Have no vocal practice at all.=)

It depends on a lot of factors... but it is a skill for the rest of your life.
Also it depends if you want to become completly fluent or if you want to be able to understand and participate in a normal conversation.
To learn a language takes probably a few years and to become perfectly fluent the rest of your life...

I have been learning english since I was 14, it was my subject of study also at university.. but still too much to learn..

learning foreign languages is the most enjoyment in my life,
i will spend all my whole life to learn languages!!!
