Learners / speakers who are pre-intermediate and above will get the most benefit from this session
I’ll lead a session based on an academic or professional article OR based on a short video and transcript. We will review vocabulary and idioms and discuss the topic. If you’re maxed out in terms of making progress (stuck at what they call the intermediate plateau) ... working with authentic materials to learn natural language / grammatical structures in situ is the next step.
I curate videos for this session on a blog. There is a welcome page that will tell you how to prepare for these sessions. In order to extract maximum value from this session, please read the article / watch the video a few times beforehand, and come to the sessions with questions.
Please book this session *at least* 48 hours in advance so you have (lots of) time to watch the video and review the transcripts / articles before the session.
One video typically takes 2 or 3 sessions to cover properly. B2 / C1 students working on TED talks should expect at least 2 sessions for one talk to do it properly and completely (at the micro level, looking at vocabulary and at the macro level, discussing ideas)
I occasionally do videos from other websites by special request OR you can access transcripts from my site. Those videos are carefully chosen based on their language content, ranging from concrete 1 min clips for A2 speakers to longer videos with multiple speakers, with various accents, more abstract topics for C1+
