Description
In this lesson, I will teach you how to count numbers in Vietnamese. It is quite easy and will only take a few minutes to understand. I am sure that you will be successful in counting!
* The first numbers:
- The number one = 1 : Một
- The number two = 2 : Hai
- The number three = 3 : Ba
- The number four = 4 : Bốn
- The number five = 5 : Năm
- The number six = 6 : Sáu
- The number seven = 7 : Bảy
- The number eight = 8 : Tám
- The number nine = 9 : Chín
- The number ten = 10 : Mưởi
* With the next numbers, you can count like
- 11 = 10 + 1 = Mười một
- 12 = 10 + 2 = Mưởi hai
* Youcan continue with other number until 20
- 20 = Hai mươi
- 21 = Hai mươi mốt
- 25 = Hai mươi năm
* Also like this rule, you can count with many numbers like 30, 45 .. until 99. The number following99 is the hundred, which you can count with " Trăm" :
- 100 = Một trăm
* When the zero (0) is in between of numbers, use : " Lẻ" or "linh" to count. For example:
- 101 = Một trăm lẻ một
- 306 = Ba trăm linh sáu
* With other numbers in hundreds, you can do as the rule above:
-123 = Một trăm hai mươi ba
- 681 = Sáu trăm tám mươi mốt
* For the next of Hundred, it is thousand = Ngàn . Try to count with Ngàn:
- 2360 = Hai ngàn ba trăm sáu mươi
- 6719 = Sáu ngàn bảy trăm mưởi chín
- 6012 = Sáu ngàn không trăm mưởi hai
* Also when you see the zero in the between, use "lẻ" or "linh":
-2008= Hai ngàn lẻ ( linh) tám
- 3004 = Ba ngàn linh ( lẻ)bốn
* Now we will continue with :
- Million = Triệu. For example : 1,000,000 = Một triệu.
4, 361, 000 = Bốn triệu / ba trăm sáu mươi mốt ngàn
- Billion = Tỷ . For example : 6,782,653,670 = Sáu tỷ/ bảy trăm tám mươi hai triệu/ Sáu trăm năm mươi ba ngàn/ sáu trăm bảy mươi.
* When you want to tell others your phone number or address, you can count one by one number :
- 123 3456721 = Một hai ba/ ba bốn năm / sáu bảy hai một.
- 45A = bốn năm a
