Description

Learn the essential few words and phrases that cover your basics in beginner's Russian. Little things that can mean a whole lot, like "thank you" or "I don't speak Russian too well yet"

Things written in square parentheses like [this] are the pronounciation of the Russian terms. They are not written in Russian because 1) I don't have Russian characters on my keyboard just yet and 2) you probably don't know how to read Russian yet since you have selected the beginner's lesson. Russian alphabet is not based on Latin letters and looks very different from it. It has 33 letters. Some of its characters do not exist in other languages. Beginners who wish to have a simple conversation in Russian do not yet need to learn the complexity of a totally different system of writing.
