How does the Commonwealth work? Any benefits?

What's your view on this association? If you live in one of the countries, do you see any benefits?

"The Commonwealth (or "The British Commonwealth until 1949) is a voluntary association of fifty-four nations (as if 1997) -each (excepting Mozambique) having once been a colony, protectorate or dependency of Britain, or of another Commonwealth country."

Yes, I've met many Australians and New Zealanders here.

Thank you for the info, Amanda. Do you see a lot of people from the commonwealth countries move to the U.K. ?

I'm a Canadian living in the UK. I have the right to vote in UK elections and I was able to obtain a visa to work in the UK for two years. The visa was a rather simple process that involved paying a fee. I'm married to a British citizen and the process to get residency was much easier compared to someone from other non-EU countries. I do think there are more advantages for third world country members than members like Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
