Don't make the mistake of thinking "American culture = Western culture." Not every country in the west does what the USA does.

Black Friday is an American thing. So is Thanksgiving!

We have Black Friday in Brazil but we call it " Black Fraude = Black Fraud " because they don't give proper discounts. As an example given: During the week, a computer cost 1000 reais, on Black Fraude they raise the price to 2000 reais and they say they're giving a discount of 50% and then you pay the same price! :D

Very Brazilian!! But apparently this year the justice is watching these stores who do such thing! Let's see!

in Egypt black friday is meaning big sale especially in clothes stores in some times we have stores that make offers like 50% & 70% but not for all items it's good chance for purchasing

İn our country it is not. In contrast Friday is a good day between muslims. 

You guys make us sound so bad in the US. Lol. Let's talk about Cyber Monday, and the big sales around Christmas. After Black Friday is Cyber Monday. It doesn't get as much press overseas, but most people shop on this day. When it's Cyber Monday all the best deals are online. So most people whether they are are at work or home or school take advantage of deals this day, many of which are better than on Black Friday. Trust me when I say most of us intentionally avoid Black Friday and wait for Cyber Monday.
