If you want to talk with your italki friends,how to start it?

I find I just could write message to others on italki. I want to speak and listen to improve my speaking too.But I'm new here,even don't have many friends on italki.

When I send a message to the strangers the reply is very few.I'm afraid that asking one’s skype

is not a good idea.it will no response?

How could I do ?
