My language exchange experience - La mia esperienza nello scambio di lezioni di lingua

It is three months since I started practising language exchange with friends all over the world. It's a wonderful experience, I've met a lot of polite and hearty people. With this letter I want to share with you my experience. Generally, for many reasons, the main one being time,... my lessons don't last more than an hour, so half an hour in Italian and half an hour in English. If I use the text chat sometimes I write in two languages. Initially I didn't use a grammar book to teach Italian, but now I have changed my mind, I've seen that it's very useful. Sometimes asking questions is a good way to introduce a new subject, for example to ask how to do a conjugation or how to use an object pronoun. Teaching Italian to English has improved my English, because I see directly the difficulties that an Englishman has speaking Italian and I understand the difference between the two languages. So when you teach a language no time is wasted. Sono ormai tre mesi che scambio lezioni di lingua con amici da tutto il mondo. É una bellissima esperienza, ho conosciuto molte persone educate e cordiali. Con questa lettera voglio condividere con voi la mia esperienza. In genere, per vari motivi, principalmente il tempo,... le mie lezioni non superano mai l'ora, quindi mezz'ora in italiano e mezz'ora in inglese. Se uso la chat di testo a volte scrivo la frase nelle due lingue. Inizialmente non usavo un libro di grammatica per insegnare l'italiano ora ho cambiato idea, ho visto che è molto utile. Qualche volta chiedere di fare una coniugazione o come usare un pronome oggetto può essere un buon modo per introdurre un nuovo argomento. Insegnando l'italiano agli inglesi ho migliorato molto il mio inglese questo perché vedo direttamente le difficoltà che un'inglese incontra nel parlare italiano e capisco la differenza tra le due lingue. Quindi quando insegnate una lingua a qualcuno non è tempo perso. Mauro
