There are so many great German movies: Beider Meinhoff, Sophie Scholl, Aguirre, the Wrath of God, The Mystery of Casper Houser, A Woman in Berlin.  Of course, some of these are "heavy" movies, but they are good.

I'd suggest "Good Bye Lenin" and "Das Leben der anderen"

"Good bye Lenin" is a good one and " Leben der Anderen" I would gladly recommend that as well,mthey are good for students of the German language
