How to distinguish the typeface of Thai ?
Thai have 44 letters but nowadays don't use 2 letters.   
Most of Thai letters are write only one step (ก, ข, ค, ง, ...), some of them are write 2 step (ษ, ศ, ส, ...).
Every letters have voice (pronounce) ; some letters (the letter groups) are same voice but that use in different case.
Writing Thai word have the lead letter + vowel + final consonant and many letters can use for the lead letter and final consonant.
For example "นาน" /nan/ = long time, in the case can use "น" /n/ for the lead letter and final consonant in the word. 
Similar English words, when that use the letters a, b, c ,d, ...
