Why do people upload avatar instead of their own photos?

here you are free to choose.and people can choose anything as their profile picture it doesn't mean thet they hide their hands behind their back,or hide anything else...!it's just about how you like your profile in a language learning site.

people are different,different cultures, different values,different characters...and we can't expect everyone to act the same!

I chose this photo because I love animals, besides, he's more handsome than me

i'm lazy one. first to take pictures on holYdays, then to download, then to choose, and download again. uff

some people don't have self confidence to put their pictures......., some of them scare to identify by their colleagues or friends ...,some of them are older or younger but pretend in other status and ages ....

I think the main reason for these kind of problems is that the purpose is forgotten on this page....
