I don't knoll know any but I have a friend who adores Japanesse culture and everything and she's often told me to listen to a band called "Perfume". Other than them I know no other singers :P

I know artists such as Sugar, Sowelu, MEG, Shiho Nanba, Nami Tamaki, AKB48, NEWS, KAT-TUN, Hey!Say!Jump, AAA, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, SDN48, and Utada Hikaru to name a few^^; 

I have just started to get into jpop. I like jrock more. Sorry if some of these artists are old xD

I like BEGIN a lot, they're an Okinawan band and the sanshin plays a major role in some of their songs. But I don't know if that's your style. Maybe you could try Hirai Ken as well, and you can never go wrong with Itsuki Horishi (yeah, I'm a sucker for enka...).

As for movies, I like Kurasawa, but that's because I like artsy cinema in general :)

You may or may not like more surreal stuff like that of Beat Takeshi (AKA Kitano Takeshi). His yakuza movies are awesome, if you enjoy this kind of stuff, of course.

This isn't j pop but this is my favorite band... The Gazette try the song red first it their most upbeat song. They are J Rock though hope you check them out! :3

I recently watched "Densha Otoko" and it was very cute! It is a romantic comedy. I also recommend "Summer Wars" and any Studio Ghibli movie.

For music, I like Asian Kung-Fu Generation (rock) and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (pop).
