Community tutoring question
Hello, I'm thinking about being a community tutor. However, I would like to know from those who have experience doing this what it entails. Do you need to prepare anything or is it just free conversation? If someone could tell me what one of their typical sessions are like I would appreciate it.
Once you put your feet on the path of teaching there is no turning back, you give it your all or you perish. Thinking of doing it?... why?... if you are called to teach then there is not thinking about it... you see the student who doesn't understand and you jump right in with both feet. There is no inbetween, the light is on or the light is off. So what is it going to be with you?
Need to prepare? Yeah, but be ready to throw that lesson plan out the window and just go with the flow... each lesson depends on the student(s)
What are lessons like? They are rock and roll music! Each student is there and you must push them through the maze of confusions that confront them trying to learn, encourage, cajole, persuade, push and pull them, model for them and show them... you have the Internet at your fingertips, nothing could be finer. You can do it if you want... but you must give yourself to the students.
