Пожалуйста is a versatile word. It also means "please" and "there you are" when you give something to somebody.

Customer: Два, пожалуйста. Two, please.

Assistant: Пожалуйста. Here you are.

Customer: Спасибо. Thank you. 

Assistant: Пожалуйста. You're welcome.
