A Little Princess written by Frances Hodgson Burnett...=))  it's a children story, but still very interestingWink

There are many classic novels written in English-- the little is only what genre you might want to read. The Great Gatsby is about affluence in the American 1920's. A Tale of Two Cities is about the French Revolution. Jane Eyre is a feminist romance set in 1800's England.

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

its a US book but its studied in many English schools for Liturature GCSEs

and its also a favourite of mine.

Some good books, good as in romantic and sweet:

"Compromised" author Kate Noble

(Note: Uses Polite English, Includes English Countryside Romance)

"The Palace of Laughter" author Jon Berkeley

(Note: About the Circus, this book takes you there)

"The Flamenco Academy: A Novel" author Sarah Bird

(Note: Terrible 'amoy de gitaos' and about young obsession)
