I follow news in the Us and the main topic is about gun-control since the Newtown's killing on the last December. I'm interested with it and I would like to collect opinions about this, american citizen or not. see you :)

I'm against the proposed gun control measures for several reasons. First, I believe that every person enjoys the natural rights of life and self-defense, and in order to make those rights meaningful, a person must be allowed to possess the necessary tools to effectively protect those rights; and in the case where another person is criminally attempting to take your life, the necessary tool that could save your life -- or the life of a loved one -- is a firearm. Second, an armed citizenry is a protection against the potential rise of a tyrannical government. In some instances where government has all the power, and the people have none, this proves to be a recipe for tyranny. A third and more pragmatic reason is that gun control doesn't work. Those who would attack and perhaps kill you and your family will not obey gun control laws. The only persons who dependably will obey gun control laws are law-abiding people, who do not present a danger to others. Therefore, gun control only creates conditions in which ruthless criminals have effective weapons, and innocent people do not have equivalent means to protect their own lives and those of innocent third persons.

If you look back to USA History , you will understand the militia against the UK army.

As I recall , the us Constitution allow them have guns , whatif they want to against the government.

Second , National Rifle Association (I hope I did not get the wrong information) , they have paid a lot of money to the both political partys (Democratic Party & Republican Party) .

Government is hard to control too much on gun issue I guess.

The basic idea is that limiting the availability of guns through a ban or paperwork would prevent mass shootings or massacres like Newtown. Actually, Newtown wasn't even unique as an event. There have been close to 20 such events in the last 10 years all with similar profiles. Basically some angry or disturbed person walks into a public place with a weapon (usually an automatic of some kind) and starts shooting into a crowd of people or children.

My opinion is that, there is no way to control gun sales or distribution regardless of type in this country. If it's illegal then people will just have illegal guns. Probably the only thing that would stop violent events like Newtown would be more social programs for those folks who are mentally unstable or financially displaced and armed security.

I though about it that connect here with female cheating in punishing

In the past. We would punish female too.

But it was thought that is inadequate.

but about the meaning and effect of marriage.

Americans love guns. In my opinion it is not quite rational thing. Anyway it seems that it crates more problems than good. In Sweden they (and their rights) protected better without any weaponry.

In my opinion, if the bill is adopted, I don't really think that all citizens will give up their weapons. It's true, the right to carry a gun is written in the 2nd amendment but, in certains cases, this right have to be limited, not deleted. For instance, when you go buy a weapon, each shop has to possess a type of database in order to preventing and prohibiting weapon sales to dangerous potencial people.

Here, in France gun-bearing is prohibited but people always find the way to commet crimes.

I heard news their gun businessman forecast american will choose to take guns finally after they forget it. I think gun is not easy control. It is a rough way for those people who just want to defend themselve and maybe they punish those people who over defend. But if they prohibited, Perhaps polices can recognize illegal easy and track the source for managing. Adding hindrance, they can find more trails in such cases for judge to measure those cases. However it depends on american spaces.

I support the opinion "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" ! I am against gun control measures either.
I just think the shops selling weapons should be committed to check EVERY person buying a weapon, check their criminal history, real name and adress, maybe even the medical file in case of any mental ilness and to save all the information for at least 20 years.

I'm American and I live in a place that is very gun-heavy. Almost everyone I know has at least one firearm, and most have many. And most also have something called a "concealed-carry" permit, which means they have a legal right to walk down the street and carry a gun around.

I am not one of those people. I think it is scary, considering the number of seriously disturbed people there are around here. Not all of us agree that the 2nd amendment means almost any amateur can carry a gun.

Just, for people who buy guns this will be more difficult, people like hunters. Certain guns that used to sell before December are not permissible anymore. it's a great achievement to have less guns out there.
