it's traditional Chinese character, why not use simplified style?

Because traditionnal is original chinese script. You cannot see the roots clearly in simplified version. (at least for more complicated characters than this one)

yes ,you are right, but it's hard to learn.

i can give you some example

力氣 : physical strength. Force physique.
光憑您的力氣,是無法搬動這個書桌

權力 : power, right (to do things). Puissance, droit (de faire les choses).
沒有了權力,政治人物會很寂寞

重力 : gravity (natural force). Gravité (force naturelle)
沒有了重力,人們的肌肉將會急速尾縮

活力 : vitality, life force. Vitalité, force vitale.
他是一個很有活力的生意人

想象力 : imagination (capability). Imagination (capacité).
發揮點想像力,人生會更美好

能力 : aptitude, capability. Aptitude, capacité.

他的能力不錯,因此一下就被擢升為總經理

毫不費力 : without any effort. Sans le moindre effort.

Great post! I have found that lot of Chinese language learners are lack of recognition on the importance of the combinations of Chinese characters. Many people have asked me a same question "What is the meaning of this character?" My answer is always like this, "Sorry, it is really hard to explain a single Chinese character itself, you have to understand this character by understanding the combinations within it." Lot of people are stunk with grasping a single Chinese word. Charles, you are the only one who recognizes the importance of Chinese characters combinations! Keep it up! :)

Thank you Li. Yes, combinations are the key to learn, you always have to be astride on a "multiple interpretation" axis, or hub, if you want to read correctly.

I was thinking it would be easier if learners could know, first, the different signifiactions of a character and then some concrete and synthetic examples of its uses. (perhaps there is still a great book about this, that still has o be written, and would be really helpful !)

Thanks to Allen a well for your kind exemples !

力 signifie principalement le pouvoir, la force et (parfois) la puissance.

Bien sûr, combiné avec d'autre caracters, le sens de ce mot échanga, mais en généralement les ont le sens caché.

Just my humble opinion :>

hello, I want to learn frech, thank you !
