Change the keyboard setting of your computer to IT (Italian keyboard) and then you need to realize were the vowels with the accent are.  It's a little complicate if you're not familiar with computers, but for Italian you can use the apostrophe mark besides the e   like > e'  < E' < and thus everybody will know that you want to use the third person of the verb essere and not the conjunction.  They are some other words that do need the acute accent, but for those you must have a Spanish or Italian keyboard, like perché or né.  As per my experience changing the keyboard setting to Spanish is the best solution: in that way you'll have all accents.
