MAIN PROBLEMS OF LEARNING ENGLISH LANGUAGE - YOUR OPINION !
In my opinion, the main problem for me is a tremendous quantity of words in English.
As I know, English vocabulary numbers about 2 million words among them 1 million words are general vocabulary and 1 million words are technical ones.
Let me know what problems are yours in English :-)))
I would like to add to my grudge next note - a very bad correspondence between spelling words and their pronunciation.
English in the aspect is a crazy language because it is unreally to predict how to pronounce an unknown word.
It is funny but even native speakers have problems with pronunciation unknown words.
One problem is the word "get," as it has a billion and 2 meanings haha.
Another problem is that half of the time words aren't conjugated according to the rules. The rules might as well not even be there! :0
Yes, I agree the word "get" is always a stumbling-block!!!
Phrase words, of course, including the "get" mentioned above.. All the rest is not so hard, the grammar is simple enough.
Well, the main problem is the way each one speaks. In our country we learn one way, but American people especially do many linking sounds, and if you're not used to it, you do not understand A WORD. Now I'm used to it, and do not have that anymore, but many people probably have.
Dennys, seems like it depends what are your native language and how its phonetics similar to english. Because I can understand Americans, but British speech is very very hard to get..
I'm a native English speaker, but every time I help someone with English, I think their biggest problem are the tenses.
I fully agree with you towards phrasal words and verbs. From mine point of view it is unreally to remember and I can decide it only due to language intuition.
I think the same. British is more clear and clean. Americans admit it.
I have a contrary story than you, I can understand Americans and Brits but I take more pleasure talking with Brits. Maybe it is a matter of taste.
