What would be rude for Americans to say/do around Hispanics?

  Would it be rude to:

-Start a convesation with a Hispanic stranger?

-Make eye-contact with Hispanic strangers/friends?

-Invite an Hispanic person out somerwhere when you first meet?

-etc/ What else would be rude?

-Start a convesation with a Hispanic stranger?

Speaking generally, Spanish people is very open-minded and they will be glad to have a conversation even with strange people.

-Make eye-contact with Hispanic strangers/friends?

Be aware of making eye-contact with the boyfriend (girlfriend) of a woman (man)  if she (he) is next to him (her) . There's nothing to be worried about in other cases ;-)
-Invite an Hispanic person out somerwhere when you first meet?

Slow down! Try to chat a little before :-) . After the person trust you it would be ok.
-etc/ What else would be rude?

On the whole, politeness is always heplfull so, at first, try to be kind to the person you're getting to know.

Hope it helps

Hispanic people are very open to people and are super friendly. We are raised as little kids to be respectful of strangers and elders.

I would not make eye contact that much with a bf or gf of someone. Spanish men get jealous very easily and tend to pick fights all the time if they think you are trying to talk to their woman.

You can invite a hispanic person definitely. It is not uncommon for a spanish person to invite you to their house for food or dinner. Typically in spanish culture we make enough food for 10 people at a time. Portion sizes are not regulated as much.

Its rude to refuse food if it is offered to you. You should always eat something even if its just a small portion. If you refuse the food it means that you dont like their cooking and that is quite bad especially since it typically takes many hours to cook many of the spanish foods you see

@ Lici / @ Jason --Thank-you both. The eye-contact concept that Hispanics have is new to not just me but most Americans :) Uh-oh
