Dear Ahmed, what an excellent question!

I'm sorry to give you some bad news, but English has over a million words!

At least this study says so.

http://www.languagemonitor.com/new-words/number-of-words-in-the-english-language-1008879/

Personally I have a very big English vocabulary because my mother loved using unusual words, because I love English, and because I have lived a long time in four different native English-speaking countries. But I still meet an unfamiliar word in English every week or so.

In addition there are hundreds of thousands of technical words, that only specialist engineers and scientists use.

So it is impossible to learn every English word.

I suggest you give up now!

<smile>

It is much more important to know how to use the words you have.

Even your remembered words in English are sometimes not available during a conversation.

If this is true in your first language then for sure it is true in English as your second language!

So what is the solution?

Learn how to use your current vocabulary to replace the possible correct or perfect word.

Speak those words confidently and it will work out fine.

Your speaking partner will understand.

If you're lucky your speaking partner will even give you the missing word that you need!

How cool is that!

So this solution is more fun, more natural, gives you more confidence, and lets you learn new words in a natural way during a conversation.

If you need to practice this method then let's schedule a lesson!

<smile>

PS: thanks again for your great question.

This makes me feel that you like to learn.

You just memorize the MOST USED words:

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Frequency_lists#English

If you know just the most used 1,000 words you will understand 87.8% of English speaking.

If you know the 3,000 most used English words then you will understand 94% of speech!

it is very difficult to know all the words in a language, and many natives would find that difficult. However, i feel that practise speaking and using the words frequently until you know that you are very familiar with it  - starting with the key words associated with your area of work and building on it is the best way forward.
