Hmmmm recite words? I suppose that happens in countries which have bad education systems and rely on traditional teaching methods.

When I did my Young Learner's certificate, we were taught to do a lot of activities like this because it helps students get the correct sentence stress, intonation, and rhythm and also gets the students to practice saying the words and phrases many times.

But if the teacher wants to run a very boring class, I guess they could have students recite words all day long ;)
