Different kinds of pronouns(代詞) in Chinese

I prefer Traditional Chinese over the Simplified version.

 

YOU

你 = (Male variant) You → Today many use it a neutral term for all genders spoken to

 

妳 = (Female variant) You → Used when referring to a female or to the mother nature

 

您 = (Polite variant) You → more formal for honorable persons, often used when meeting a stranger or a senior/elder/client that you would want to show respect to

 

祢 = (Religious variant) You → used when spoken to a higher presence, such as a spirit or God

 

儞/爾/尔 = (Archaic variant) You → singular informal, may find them in books or when people try to speak in a archaic style

 

儂 = (Informal variant of Wu) You


ME, MYSELF, AND I

我 = (Common variant) I, me


吾 = (Archaic, dialectal variant) I, me, my, our


俺 = (Dialectal varaint) I, me, my; we, us, our


阿拉 = (Regional variant of Wu) we, I, me


THIRD PERSON

其 = (Archaic gender/number neutral variant) he, she, it, they


他 = (Masculine variant) he; him; another → Today many use it a neutral term for all gender/object/being spoken of


她 = (Feminine variant) she; her; mother nature


它 = (Object) it


牠 = (Animal) it


祂 = (Deity) he/she

 

佢/渠 = (Neutral variant of Cantonese) he, she, it

 

伊 = (Neutral variant of Min Nan and Wu) he, she, it
