Do you know any books to learn German?

Do you know any books to learn German? I would prefer for Italians, otherwise it could be good in English or German.
I am absolutely beginner in German. Please, let me know!

Try poems by Heinrich Heine! His language is very clear and suits a beginner, he has great sense of humour, and I think that shorter texts like poems may me more rewarding for a beginner than longer ones because they are easier to finish.

Here is my favourite one: http://de.wikisource.org/wiki/Der_Brief,_den_du_geschrieben

If you're learning on your own, I would recommend the book "Teach Yourself German" from the Teach Yourself series. I also like "Begegnungen" from Schubert Verlag, but that one is more useful if you learn with a teacher or tutor.
