This site has lots of conversation questions, you could adapt some for your topic of interest so to prepare beforehand :) Useful for anyone.

Kia, I understand your need to chat with someone in your field and I wish you well with this task. However, in the meantime I suggest the following. Find and article on a related topic, then share with any language partner, even if they are not in this field. It will be useful for you both to discuss this and ask questions. The other person can learn some new vocab and you too will be able to talk about a topic of interest to your work. Perhaps a news article is a good place to begin.
