Доброго времени суток, Гордон! Меня зовут Максим, я из России. Хочу вас поздравить, вы очень хорошо пишите по-русски. Есть три ошибки, но не существенные (две из них подметил Seriy, а третяя - слово "язык" пишется без буквы "а" после "я"). И последнее предложение несколько "режет слух". Но в целом вы молодец, так держать! :)

ПРивет, Гордон! Замечательно говоришь уже по-русски. Небольшие ошибки не имеют значения. как будто бы ты случайно опечатался. за исключением " я уставший". Читал ли ты что-то из русской литературы? давай поговорим о чем хочешь. Я живу в Санкт-Петербурге и на данный момент не работаю, а сижу дома с ребенком. Соответственно времени у меня много. Буду рада общению. В том числе и на английсокм, который я с переменным успезом пытаюсь изучать вот уже 8 лет. Анастасия

Thanks to all of you who answered! With the help of the Babylon 7 (www.babylon.com) Text Translation (Russian-English) feature, I was able to understand what you said. The biggest problem for me was the large (to me) vocabulary you used. Although I understand the basic grammar of Russian, I recognize only relatively few words (maybe fewer than 1,000). I have never taken a course in Russian but have only studied it on my own (for less than a year). I can read it much better than I can write it. And my listening and speaking skills are very poor (not enough practice) -- maybe equal to one month of Russian? In my greeting above I used mostly only the vocabulary and grammar from the first six lessons of _Teach Yourself Russian_, a textbook of elementary Russian. But let's keep writing to one another. I'll get better gradually. :)

Thanks, Baal and Solli, for your greetings! Yes, Solli, I am using other books to study Russian. I just bought Голоса, volume one, to use this summer in a Beginning Russian class at City College of San Francisco. There is a very helpful website that complements the textbook: www.prenhall.com/golosa. I am now also going through _Russian Grammar_ (by the same people who wrote _Teach Yourself Russian_). I also bought a book and CDs called _Ultimate Russian_, which I have started using. Then I just ordered online several books by Terence Wade, which should be helpful. I also have the Pimsleur Russian CDs, which I used when I was studying Russian on my own (by myself) a long time ago, but I have forgotten a lot, so I am reviewing now. Since I am a professional linguist (linguistic scientist), I can usually learn foreign languages fairly easily. So I have a pretty good idea at present of the grammatical structure of written Russian. However, my knowledge of Russian vocabulary is still very weak. And my speaking and listening skills are terrible! Nevertheless, if you write me in Russian, I will be able to understand it (with the help of Babylon 7 -- an online Russian-English dictionary). :)
