Hello, thank you for sharing all this with us,it´s really interesting.

I´ll try cucumbers with honey, but it feels so different!

Do you have vareniki ? Which sort of dumplings do you have?

And soups?

Best wishes!

Wow, cucumber and honey sounds great. I'll have to look it up on Youtube.

I've heard of potato pancakes before. "Latkes" are popular  in America; and of course you can get "hash browns" even in McDonalds - but this is the first time I've heard of "draniki". Thanks for teaching me something new.

Any artistic symbols? Famous national artists?

Hello Berneddi,

I am glad you like to learn about Belarus :)

What about the special food... Probably, I can mention DRANIKI. Draniki are salty potato pancakes, which could be filled with meat too. You can find this potato pancakes in Russia and Ukraine too, but this dish was originated in our country :) https://be.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%94%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BD%D1%96%D0%BA%D1%96

Due to similar climate and geography, many dishes seams to be similar in eastern Slavic countries, but some methods of cooking or methods of eating could be very special. For example, in Belarus you can try fresh cucumber with honey - it is a kind of very simple desert, I guess :) Or you could be offered some not-salty cow cheese with honey too :)

Hello Millena,

Very interesting. I'd like to learn more about Belarus.

How about food? Is there some special symbolic food of Belarus that is different from other surrounding countries such as Russia, Poland, Ukraine etc.?

One more symbol: ZUBR

https://be.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%97%D1%83%D0%B1%D1%80_%D0%B5%D1%9E%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BF%D0%B5%D0%B9%D1%81%D0%BA%D1%96

Zubr is a kind of bison wich lives in the old relict forest of Belovezhskaya Pushcha. The forest is the last one of this kind in Europe, it is located on the border territory of Belarus and Poland.
