I'm a sophomore in college now. My major is "Teaching Chinese as a foreign language". when asked by foreign friends about Chinese, I find how familiar but strange these Chinese are to me! I don't know how to explain those questions in "simple" Chinese. So I have to explain them with the help of English.  Without the knowledge of a foreign language, I can't do well in my major. 

I don't really speak English when I work. But as a computer engineer, I need read lots of English books, so it's important for me to be able read it well. But speaking and listening are also very important, because without them the reading skills can't be improved very much.
