Have you used the language partner search function? I've had no difficulty finding Japanese who want to do a language exchange with English speakers. Most italki users aren't reviewing the Discussions section so you won't have as much success in finding suitable partners here.

Tried it, but since I am not a native english speaker, perhaps that makes it kinda hard. But, I found some already! still new in language exchange!
