What's the best way to learn Russian?

Привет!

It's my first attempt to learn a Slavic language, which means it's all new for me. I'd like to learn the basics before taking classes - actually I already took a class but I'm not sure if it was that useful. Now I'm feeling like a foreign in a distant land. Should I study firstly its grammar to get familiar with it, or should I study the basic stuff like useful sentences and words and do not care so much about grammar for now?

Those who want to learn Portuguese and eventually help me with Russian are welcome.

As for me, the best way to study is to find appropriate tutor not for one lesson, but for a long time. But if you want study by yourself, try to learn how to speak correctly. Try to watch cartoons in Russian. For ex:

It is easy to understand them even without subtitles.

Удачи в обучении!

as a teacher i would say that the best way is to pay thousands dollars to your teacher :).

well, i would suggest first to read and fully understand a big russian grammar book, and when you have questions to order lessons, to ask your teachers the things you cant understand.

in parallel i would suggest memorizing words with flash cards, to get at least 1000 words vocabulary.

when these 2 things are done, taking lessons will have much more sense, because you already will do almost everything you can do on your own and teachers will help you to learn the things you can't learn alone.
