ARD mediatech is great: http://www.ardmediathek.de/tv you can watch a lot of recent shows by the German broadcaster: daserste. Anything from documentaries, thrillers, german films, new programmes, or if you want something slower paced kids shows.

You can also watch live tv or listen to radioprogrammes from here.

Another great site is the Goethe Institut the instute for German promotion abroad: https://www.goethe.de/de/spr/ueb.html

In particular their apps are amazing for intermediate learning. They have a couple of adventure games called "Lernabenteuer" where you play a detective style game in German to solve the mystery. Das Geheimniss der Himmelscheibe is great: https://www.goethe.de/de/spr/ueb/him.html

If you add them on facebook as well you get a lot of good daily posts: https://www.facebook.com/goetheinstitut.deutsch?fref=ts ;

If you want to read colloquial german fanfiktion.de is full of German fanfictions written by amateurs: https://www.fanfiktion.de/ I would never read most of this in English but the language is simple and the stories are always easy to follow.

I prefer http://www.welt.de/ for german news (you get a couple of free full length articles a week). When I started using this site I had to print off articles and look a lot of vocabulary up, but now I'm familiar with most current affairs language.

BBC German: http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/german/ is helpful if you're a beginner and it has some good links as well for free practice or listening practice.

They've all been really helpful free sources for me :).

A couple of sites I enjoy:

A music site (it took me a while to find German radio stations that did not play predominantly English language music): http://www.surfmusic.de/format/schlager.html

I am particularly fond of Discofox FM.

Streaming TV: http://mediathek.daserste.de/

Danke schön. Ich finde Slow German sehr nützlich. In China gibt es auch gute Webseiten für Deutschlearnen, z.b. de.hujiang.com.
