The aim of the article is to give beginner learners first simple ways to tell the age and the time, and not to overwhelm with all possible forms.
Telling 1 час 30 минут is something to learn on the first stage (though it already requires the form of Genitive plural). Of course on more advanced levels we study more natural (and more grammatically complicated) forms, 1 час 30 минут becomes полвторого, 3 часа 45 минут becomes без четверти/пятнадцати четыре.
Just like when you study English, at first you only study 2.30 as two thirty and 2.45 as 2 forty five. And only later you study half past two and a quarter to three.
Well, it’s hard to argue about that if you don’t consider the article from the teaching point of view as I do.

Wrong sentences about time. Nobody in Russia use such phrases.

Все что касается времени - не по-русски.

Пример:

Когда ты обедаешь? — Я обедаю в 1 час 30 минут. Брррррр!

Ни один русский так не скажет. Скажут что "в полвторого" или "в час тридцать"

Сейчас 12 часов 2 минуты - типичный ответ: 2 минуты первого.

Но в статье нет ни слова об этом. Так же как и о "без десяти пять", к примеру.

I don't agree at all. Imagine that this person asks somebody for time and get answer usual for russians. He will not understand the answer. I am sure that teacher MUST give right information from the first time.

I remember how I learn English in the school. We never study as "two thirty". I just check my sons textbook. NO "two thirty".

PS Yes, I know that my english is not good :)
