"what is your name?" in Russian is "Kakh tebya zovut?" or "Как тебя зовут?"

The easiest way to ask something in Russian is to start with a question word and you have mentioned some of them.

как тебя зовут - literally it means:
how do they call you?

how=как
they call = зовут
you = тебя

('тебя' is accusative case of 'ты'. cf: I=я, 'me'=меня.
Меня зовут Мохаммед. - my name is Mohammed, 'they call me Mohammed")

"Ты", "тебя" etc. are singular forms. The plural 'вы', 'вас' /vas/
With those who aren't your friends and/or peers a 'polite' plural frm is used.
