which one is correct ?

1-) Animals have rights to live as much as people have.  

2-) Animals have rights to live as much as people do .


Note: Im trying to say that people and animals have the same rights to live

I think right should be singular rather than plural. It sounds better to me anyway. Any of these examples would work.

Animals have a right to live as much as people do.  

Animals have the right to live as much as people do.

Animals have as much right to live as humans. (Of the the I prefer this one.)

I think number 2 is grammatically correct, but personally I would express it this way: <em>Animals have the same rights to live as humans do.</em>
