Well I have a book in my collection called "A practical chinese grammar for foreigners" written by Li Dejin, Cheng Meizhen. It is very Grammar technical based and usefull. I use it as my Grammar dictionary. It is in english but you need to know how to read characters becuase the Grammar point examples given are only in characters with no pinyin.
Hope this helps
You can see the movies within subtitle , and listen some Chinese musics and try to understand them. Chinese poem is beauty , you can try to read them . And I'm native of speaker Chinese , we can teach our mother tongue to assist with other.
I'm Anita, nice to mee you.
I do believe every Chinese grama book will give you a good background, because grama in Chinese is not that tough as thought. Maybe the most difficult part for foreigners to learn chinese is first to remember kanji, and then how to use correct words and combinations to make sentenses.
