Farsi Dictionary?

Hi everyone! I'd like to start learning Farsi and I'd really need a dictionary.. something with transliteration or tashkeel as it's called in Arabic. Do you know any?

It doesn't matter if it's a PDF, website or app.

Have a wonderful experience with Farsi!

Persian-Persian dictionaries such as Dehkhoda and Moein have tashkeel, not on all the letters though, only on a letter of a word that might be pronounced in several ways, you can have these dictionaries on your Mobile device, but it’s best that you use this website:

http://www.vajehyab.com/

Try searching a word in it and you will find meanings and definitions of the word in several Persian-Persian dictionaries and also its equivalents in English at the end.

If this isn’t enough for you, then maybe you should visit

http://www.forvo.com/
And hear the pronunciation of words from Native speakers.

Hi! Vajje.com is the best online option I know of. It is bilingual/monolingual and comes with some sort of latin transliterations plus phonetic transcriptions in IPA. Just note that there will be an occasional mistake here and there as it's still under development. Good luck!

Check out the "Persian-English English-Persian Learner's dictionary" by Yavar Dehghani on amazon. It is a paper dictionary and it features about 20 thousand words, all transliterated. I find it to be a great resource for someone who is learning Farsi.

Another option is http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/steingass/ (or just google Persian English dictionary). It is available for free, it is much more extensive, and it shows pronounciation, but, and I may be wrong, it is more suited for those who are studying classical Persian.
